The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), said that on Saturday 7th July, 2018, its Officers and Men were ambushed and brutalized by criminals involved in sabotaging the nation economy, through smuggling activities.

A statement from the office of the Public Relation Officer of the Command, Mr Abdulahi Maiwada, disclosed that the criminals succeeded in abducting and inflicting life threatening injury to an Inspector of Customs, Abdullahi Mohammad Kuso attached to the Command.

Even as the hostility became so severe, the officer who was brutally injured received rescue team of the Command.

It was also revealed that the Customs patrol base at Papalanto close Lafarge Cement Company was set ablaze by the criminals.

While still on the trail of the assailants,  full scale investigation is ongoing to fish out those involved in the barbaric, cruel and inhumane aggression, against the Customs official.

The Area Controller of the Command has therefore, issued stern warning to those still inflicting damage to the nation Economy, saying that it is no longer business as usual, but rather smugglers will surely pay for their sin.

Comptroller Agbara Ojo Michael, assured that the Service will continue to annihilate them, as he charged his officers to give the smugglers a very hot chase, adding that, “We shall beat them to submission without rising to have a field day, even if there are any illegal routes used.

He said the Service will not relent in bringing to book economic sabotuers and criminals alike who often violently engage officers at various approved duty posts, to the extent of inflicting injuries on his officers, destroying government properties,  and constituting nuisance to the society.
