Transit Gas Nigeria Limited (Transit Gas), one of the subsidiary companies of Axxela, has donated a block of six fully furnished classrooms to St John’s Anglican Nursery and Primary School, Ilado, Ogun State.
The donation, which includes six well-equipped classrooms, a head teacher’s office, and a collection of more than one hundred storybooks, was officially handed over to the Ilado community.
Implemented under Axxela’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) framework, the initiative aims to improve access to quality education by providing a conducive learning environment, inspiring young minds, and promoting literacy development within host communities.
The handover ceremony was attended by the representative of the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Okusanya Akeem; the Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede; and the Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee, Prince Dada Ganiyu, alongside other dignitaries and key stakeholders. Also present were community leaders, led by His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Adetoye Alatise, the Gbegande of Ososa.
Commenting on the initiative, Kehinde Alabi, Managing Director, Axxela Gas Distribution, emphasised the company’s commitment to education as a foundation for sustainable development. “We recognise the challenges many schools face, such as overcrowded classrooms, inadequate learning facilities, and limited access to quality educational environments. We believe that this six-classroom facility, fully furnished and equipped for both pupils and teachers, will provide a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning, inspire excellence among students, and support teachers in shaping future leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Assistant Chief Education Officer, Mr. Akeem Okusanya, lauded the company’s intervention and highlighted its impact. “It is heart-warming to witness an organisation like Transit Gas demonstrating genuine corporate social responsibility by complementing government efforts in improving educational infrastructure. This new classroom block will no doubt provide a safer, more comfortable, and inspiring environment for teaching and learning.”
In his remarks, Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evang Olalekan Ifede, also commended Axxela’s intervention. ”This is a significant contribution to our collective quest under the ‘Building our Future Together’ mantra of the present administration, to expand access to quality basic education for the leaders of tomorrow. It is also in line with the slogan of the Universal Basic Education Programme: ‘Education for all is the responsibility of all.’”
Over the years, Axxela has demonstrated its commitment to advancing education through meaningful interventions such as the provision of educational facilities and scholarships for indigent students from its host communities in Lagos and other areas of operation.
The initiatives are embedded in Axxela’s broader corporate social responsibility framework, which focuses on education, healthcare, and economic empowerment programmes designed to improve the well-being of its host communities.
