Following the oil spill reported at Kilometer 25 and 27 locations on our Obagi –Rumuekpe oil export pipeline, a Joint Investigation Visit (JIV), in accordance with the extant regulations, has carried out on the oil spill locations, with relevant regulatory agencies (DPR, NOSDRA, Rivers State Ministry of Environment).

The JIV team recorded that the oil spill incident was due to third-party interference(sabotage).

Total said it mobilized intervention teams to clamp the leaks on the pipeline while relevant agencies and service providers were also organized.

The company said containment booms were deployed to restrain the spill and prevent further spread.

Total said it is committed to preventing further spread of the spill and to restore theenvironment and assured engagement with the relevant government authorities and communities, to ensure that this is achieved.
