As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility thrust,Total Group in Nigeria recently launched its ’Net it out’ project at Ibafon community of Lagos State.
With the objective of raising awareness about the need for Malaria Control, employees of Total Group in Nigeria (comprising the upstream and downstream companies of the Group) participated in the distribution and hanging of Long Lasting Insecticide treated Nets (LLINs) in 500 households.
Facilitated by Kasher Consulting Ltd, the project featured community awareness and sensitization of residents on how to effectively hang up and use their insecticide treated nets.
Speaking about the project, the, Managing Director, Total exploration and production ( E&P) Nigeria Limited and the Group Representative in Nigeria, Elisabeth Proust, explained that”Health is the first priority of our HSE Programme and Total worldwide is committed to assisting in the eradication of malaria, especially in Nigeria, our host country.”
Also commenting on the project, Managing Director of Total Nigeria Plc, Alexis Vovk said “the objective of the ‘Net it out’ project is to create awareness amongst local communities, employees and their families as well as to all stakeholders on malaria control and prevention in Nigeria”.
Participants and members of the community numbering about 3,250 beneficiaries including mothers, pregnant women and children under 5 years were gifted with treated insecticide mosquito nets.
Also, about 25,000 fliers containing information on malaria treatment and prevention were distributed to over 500 Total service stations nationwide and in the Ibafon community.
