Two Killed In Fatal Accident In Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said that two persons have died following a fatal accident along Nnewi-Otolo road.

According to RC Pascal A. Anigbo, spokesman of the Command, “At about 2.48pm today Thursday 23 July, 2020 a Fatal Multiple Road Traffic Crash was recorded near Organizer Filling Station, Owerri Road, along Nnewi-Otolo Road. The vehicles involved include an Astra Shuttle Bus with registration number ABN621YP, a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number AGL739DX and a Honda Kymco motorcycle without registration number.

Anigbo said that a total of Nine people 6 males and 3 females were involved in the crash.

Unfortunately, two of the victims 1 male and 1 female, were rushed to the Akwudo Hospital Nnewi, by sympathizers, before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from Nnewi Unit Command, but were confirmed dead by doctors at the hospital.

The crash was reportedly caused by over-speeding and Loss of Control, said Anigbo.

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew A. Kumapayi, strongly warned drivers against driving above recommended speed limits, especially within built-up areas.

He advised drivers to always drive with common sense speed limits and tolerate other road users and also condoled the families of the dead victims.
