…Expresses Commitment To Nigeria’s Energy Sector

Yemisi Izuora

A delegation of the United States Consulate General led by the Deputy Economic Counselor Joel A. Kopp recently visited Nigerdock located at Snake Island Integrated Free Zone (SIIFZ) in Lagos.

The team has an advisory role to the US government in shaping bilateral policy for Nigeria.

The visit was part of the mission to discover successful business models like that of Jagal Energy and Nigerdock and identify potential areas of investment and cooperation between US and Nigerian companies

Speaking during the visit, the US delegation reiterated their interest in Jagal as a success story despite the huge challenges businesses face in Nigeria. Success stories help to lay the groundwork for a stable business environment.  Such will be conveyed during the proposed visit of the US Congressional Delegation to Nigeria

The delegation praised Nigerdock for its doggedness in the face of challenges.  Mr. Osman ‘’Oz’’ Tat who is the Political /Economic Section Chief stated that ‘‘the story of Jagal is heartening and a good story of a company deciding not to be bogged down by all the challenges. Forging ahead no matter the odds’’. He stressed the need for friendly economic policies that will attract investors.

The delegation toured Nigerdock’s facilities including its recently upgraded logistics and supply services base which has a full suite of services including 24/7 direct access quay sides, warehousing and laydown areas, diesel and portable water storage, waste management and an array of handling equipment.

Nigerdock is a wholly owned Nigerian company with diverse capabilities that support highly complex oil and gas projects.  The company’s facility is an integrated hub that offers services to a broad range of leading international oil companies and national clients across the energy sector.Snake Island Integrated Free Zone has ‘’Full Port Status’’ withDirect Delivery Shipping Approval issued by the Nigerian Customs Services confirming its capability to receive vessels directly at its quay.

Nigerdock also has the largest fabrication and shipyard facilities in West Africa and provides the highest quality needs-based training and development. This track record is delivered through the Nigerdock Training and Development Academy, a fully-equipped facility which has trained over 6,000 personnel in a range of skills including project management, quality, occupational health and safety, welding, fitting, painting and coating, machining, lifting and rigging as well as scaffolding etc.
