A woman, Mojisola Awe, 40, has allegedly unleashed her dogs on a tricycle rider for not being able to remit the weekly delivery of N3,500 at the Igando area of Lagos.

Mrs. Awe in company with her son allegedly beat up the rider, Muhammed Abdulhammed, 33, after which they unleashed two giant dogs on him.

The woman, after assaulting the victim, ran to Igando Police Station to report a case against Abdulhammed, claiming that he assaulted and injured her face.

The intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Taiwo Kashumu, who interviewed the parties saved the victim from further humiliation as he discovered during the interview that the woman was actually the suspect.

It was gathered that the DPO who noticed visible injuries on the face of the tricyclist, warned the woman to stop abusing her authority, noting that it was wrong for her to have breached the law and yet wanted to frame the victim.

A police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said: “The woman was at first the complainant because she arrived police station earlier but upon a confrontational interview with the DPO, she turned to suspect. She claimed the man injured her mouth but the DPO then told her to open it, there was no wound.

“It’s a case of assault occasioning harm. The woman coordinates tricycle daily remittance. The man delayed in remitting for Monday and so, the woman and her son took laws into their hands. They were both given medical forms to take to the hospital for check-up.

“The woman is in the habit of using her son to intimidate or assault the tricycle operators should there be a breach.

“The son was alleged to be holding a daga and he owns two giant dogs which he let loose to harass the man before neighbours called in a routine police patrol team”.
