The National Executive Council of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Thursday, in Enugu, called on US President Donald Trump to identify with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in her bid to become the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Council also congratulated Senator Ike Ekweremadu on his appointment as the Chief Coordinator for Africa in the International Parliamentary Congress.

The National President of the group, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, while felicitating with Dr Okonjo-Iweala, said, “We are proud and overwhelmed by Iweala’s proven capacity. It clearly points the indispensable need for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction towards a better, shared, peaceful democratic dividends.”

Comrade Igboayaka, in the statement, urged Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to employ her ‘proven parliamentary prowess and attract home to Nigerian, the fruits of her official oversight over IPC and ensure rapid socioeconomic advancement, climate action programmes and projects advocacy, with greater attention on food security for all Nigerians’.

He added that, “Also Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) charges Dr Iweala to propagate the principles of human rights, peace, security, conflict resolution and interfaith harmony; trade, investment and development corporation; health research, standardisation, quality control, human development and observation of elections across the world.”
