The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, December 9, swore in Professor Mahmood Yakubu for a second term as its Chairman.
Yakubu stated during the swearing-in ceremony that elections in the country are getting better.
“We have clearly demonstrated in recent elections that elections are getting better and better and elections will continue to get better and better,” he said after the swearing-in ceremony which took place at the Council Chambers, State House in Abuja.
On October 27th, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari reappointed Yakubu as Chairman of INEC for another five-year term, making him the first person to be handed a second tenure as head of the commission.
