Yetunde Ilori Now NIA DG, As Tope Smart Become Deputy Chairman

Nigeria Insurers Association, NIA, has appointed Mrs. Yetunde Ilori as its new Director General while the Managing Director/ CEO of NEM Insurance Plc Tope Smart becomes the Deputy Chairman of the association.

Ilori takes over from Mr. Sunday Thomas who was recently appointed as the Deputy Commissioner Technical, National Insurance Commission by President Mohammed Buhari in May 2017.
 Chairman of NIA, Mr Eddie Efekoha said Ilori’s appointment was widely accepted and approved at the council meeting of the association especially because of her vast knowledge and contributions at various level to the industry.

Others appointed by the council were the Group Managing Director, NEM Insurance Plc, Tope Smart who becomes the association’s Deputy Chairman; Managing Director, Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Ganiyu Musa, Honourary Treasurer and Managing Director, Standard Alliance Insurance Plc, Assistant Honourary Treasurer.

Ilori  has worked in various capacity in the industry before her appointment was the former Managing Director of AXA Mansard Insurance were she worked till 17th July 2017 when she retired.
Speaking on her plans for the industry, Ilori said she will build on what her predecessor has done.
She also listed professionalism and insurance awareness as some of her plans for the industry.
She promised to build a formidable relationship with the insurance regulator and other arms of insurance bodies.
She will be the first female to be appointed director general of the great association.
