The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2, 000 personnel for Christmas and new year celebration.
The Public Relations Officer of Kwara NSCDC, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Olasunkanmi said that 2, 000 security personnel had been deployed to all the 16 local government areas in the state to ensure peace and safe celebrations.
He said that the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic had hit the state and people ought to observe COVID-19 protocols even in their eagerness to celebrate the seasons.
Olasunkanmi advised the people of the state to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 guidelines to avoid the spread of the virus, warning that apart from paying attention to their health, people should report any unusual movement in their areas immediately to any security personnel.
He also said that movement had been restricted by the state government from 12:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m when people would like to attend parties.
Ayeni warned that “anybody caught during the restricted time or violates the laid down rules of the government would be arrested and prosecuted”.(NAN)
