The Zamfara State Police Command has reacted to a story, published  by a Hausa Online TV and has been trending on social media platforms, about arms recovery from a member of the state House of Assembly.

The story which was published in Hausa language narrated how the security agents from Kano state  uncovered AK-47 rifles, Boxes containing live ammunition and Tear gas  in the residence of the said member located in Takama area of Gusau Metropolis, as well as grenade in his Tsafe residence.

The Police however, said that story in its entirety is false adding that the Police Officer whom the writer claimed to have confirmed the story had been out of the command since 2014, according to SP Mohammed shehu, Police Public Relation Officer.

The Command enjoins members of the public to disregard the story and stressed the need for the press  to avoid sensational journalism in their reportage of events.

What the state and by extension the country at large need at this time is that all hands must be on deck to find a lasting solution to  any act of brigandage and other related offences.
