The Zamfara Police Command on Tuesday inaugurated a twenty one man local government Community Policing Advisory Committee in Shinkafi local government area.
The exercise was conducted by the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Usman Nagogo.
Nagogo, during the inauguration explained that it was in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police towards ensuring speedy inauguration of the committees Nationwide.
The programme was conducted in the palace of Emir of Shinkafi Alhaji Mohammad Makwashe Isah MFR, and was attended by the Shinkafi local government Chairman, Community/Religious leaders, Business/Farmers Association and other critical stakeholders in the local government.
The Commissioner of Police while inaugurating the committee said, the idea was to incorporate members of the community into the policing architecture of their areas, stressing the need to be good ambassadors of the local government and Emirate.
In their separate response, the Emir and the local government Chairman expressed appreciations to the Inspector General of Police for nuting the idea, and they promised to justify the confidence reposed on them by ensuring that only people with unquestionable character will be chosen to serve for the local government.
The CP was accompanied by the State Director Security, Commandant Civil Defence, Commanding Officers of 42 and 78 PMF as well as other senior Police officers.
