Zamfara State Inaugurates Community Policing Advisory Committee

In continuation of the  inauguration of  Local Government Community Policing Advisory Committee at the Local Government level, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command CP Usman Nagogo Tuesday launched the Local Government Community Policing Advisory Committees in three (3) Local Government Areas of  Kauran Namoda, Zurmi and Birnin Magaji.

The members of the Committees were inaugurated at the Palaces of the three Emirates and was attended by Their Royal Highnesses, Emir of Kauran Namoda Alhaji Sanusi Ahmad Mohammad Asha, Emir of Zurmi Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Mohammed MFR, Emir of Birnin Magaji Alhaji Hussaini Dan Ali,  Local Government Chairmen, Community and Religious leaders and other critical stakeholders in the three LGAs.

In his address, the Commissioner of Police CP Usman Nagogo said, Community Policing Programme is  part of the strategies of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed A. Adamu to employ an all inclusive ways to adress the lingering  security challenges in Zamfara State through Community Consultation and  Participation.

He therefore congratulated the committee members for their appointment and further called on them to justify the confidence reposed on them by working with all sense of honesty and  fear of God in order to achieve the purpose of which the idea was meant for.

In their separate responses, the Emirs and the Chairmen of the three (3) LGAs/Emirates commended the Inspector General of Police for regaining the idea of Community Policing. This according to them will give their  Communities the opportunity to participate actively in policing their  areas, hence they are conversant with the norms, traditions as well as the terrains  of their respective areas. They further promised to contribute immensely to ensure the  success of the programme.

The programme was conducted peacefully in all the three (3) LGAs and will be continued in due course, SP Mohammed Shehu spokesman of the Command said.
