The police in Lagos has impounded 449 vehicles within three days of intensive enforcement to prevent violation of movement restriction order.
DSP Bala Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer, of the Command disclosed this during a live radio programme in Lagos while fielding questions on Covid19 restrictions implementation
Elkana said it’s been discovered that violators of the order hide under different guises to travel round the state in contravention of the rule
According to him, some move around with drugs claiming to be sick and wanting to buy medicines from locations very far away from where they reside.
He added that others lied that they were looking for food to buy in very distant places even when food markets were allowed open within specified periods across the state.
Elkana said the police will not hesitate to invoke the laws in enforcing the restriction order.
Our Correspondent saw policemen across the state stopping vehicles on transit to ascertain who the occupants are and confirm if they were listed among essential service providers exempted from the restriction.
