The National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, is reviewing its partnership with other key sectors of the economy with the view to strengthening existing relationship.

The Commission hopes to achieve this through a new guideline that is about to be thrown open to operators for contribution.

The guidelines would help to further regulate the collaboration between the insurance industry and other sectors in the distribution channel.

According to Pius Agboola, Director (Authorization and Policy),NAICOM who spoke at a seminar organised by the Commission, for Insurance and Finance correspondents in Gombe, Gombe State, the new document would be released in the next few months.

The Commission is presently fine tuning the document which will guide the industry’s relationship with sectors like the bank, telecommunications sector
on how to sell insurance.

After all modifications, the document will be made available  to industry operators for inputs before being released.

On Bancassurance, he said the Commission is not positioning itself to supervise the banks but is interested in knowing how the partnership is working.

He said the Commission is willing to talk with the CBN or the banking operators in this regard.
