Reacting to the rage over the rape and brutal murder of Uwa Omozuwa; a 100 level undergraduate of the University of Benin, the Senate on Tuesday proposed stronger measures against rapists in Nigeria.
The Senate condemned the recent killings of two young girls; even as it urged that the perpetrators be found and brought to book.
It also called on the Federal Government to stage a campaign against the increasing brutality; as well as mounting cases of rape against the girl child.
The Senate urged security agents to enforce laws against child marriages to protect younger members of female gender.
These resolutions followed a motion moved by Senator Sandy Onuh who brought the cases of the deaths of two girls; as a result of gender-based violence.
