WMC Renewed Efforts On Prohibited Products Seizures

Image result for Western Marine CommandThe Comptroller Sarkin Kebbi, led Western Marine Command, of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), marine Anti-Smuggling Unit renewed efforts on the seizures of prohibited items within the Nigerian waterways, Creeks and Land Borders has become the biggest trouble for Smugglers.
His commitment to get rid of illegal activities has led to discovery of smugglers hideouts in one of its Anti-Smuggling operations.
The Command which have been recording huge success’s in her seizures, even though it is regarded as small in size, is highly equipped with high level standard gunboats, handed over to her by the Federal Government in other to bring down the increasing spate of smugglers in our waterways.
According to a released report highlighting it’s performances for the last six months shows that this years seizures between January and June, has surpassed 2016 record, it is therefore evident that over N15,000,000 as Duty Paid Value(DPV), was realized in June alone.
Barely three months of taking over the Command from the month of May this year, as the new Area Controller, Comptroller Kebbi have had three consecutive media briefings where he highlights his seizures of prohibited items, comprising of, frozen foods, foreign parboiled rice of various quantities, Bags of used clothing’s, sandals of various categories illegally smuggled that could not beat his boys.
While keeping to the mandate of the CGC fiscal policy on erradication of smuggling activities, the Area Controller who is known for his doggedness and unrelenting efforts, warned that anyone caught in the act would not be spared, he affirmed.
