More splinter groups have emerged from the Ohaneze Ndigbo youth wing after the youth body announced adoption of president Goodluck Jonathan for a second term in office in Abia state, when the president campaign train visited the state.
The Coalition of the Igbo Youth Organisation (CIYO) which emerged to challenge the adoption recently met in Enugu where it resolved to dissociate itself from that unpopular decision.
In a statement made available to Leadership, convener of the meeting comrade Bright Ezeocha declared that the Igbo Youths have not unanimously taken any decision on who to give their bloc vote.
Ezeocha said that CIYO was embarrassed by such statement which was widely published in the media, adding that there is no moral justification for such support.
According to him, we have not decided on the 2015 presidential elections. We have nothing to do with the politics of adoption of a particular presidential candidate by the Ohaneze Ndigbo neither are we here to clear way for any other.
He said “We hereby dissociate ourselves from the Ohaneze Youth Wing declaration at a recent presidential campaign of the president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at Abia state that Igbo youths have adopted president Goodluck Jonathan for a second term as made by one of its acclaimed leaders.
Continuing, Ezeocha noted “we make bold to say that we have nothing to show for our previous massive support and votes. We are surprised to hear that the long talked about awarded 2nd Niger bridge has just commenced with N10billion committed out of the required N135 billion”.
Ezeocha further raised some other fundamental issues with regard to failed promises of the President which include Onitsha deep seaport project, south eastern roads and non realisation of two international airports in the region.
He said that any candidate that will be adopted will show real intention of supporting economic development of the region and not mere rhetoric.
